Student artwork shines at prestigious Toronto-area gallery

St. Lawrence College Brockville students and Students of The
Markham School of Fine Arts made their mark during an art exhibition at the prestigious McKay Art Centre, part of the Varley Art Gallery in Markham, Ontario.

The art show, Convergence, which ran from March 25 to 29, featured more than 30 artists and showcased various works and styles including abstracts and landscape paintings, photography and other unique personal forms of expression.

The pieces exhibited encompassed all levels of learning from class assignments to overall course objectives.

The show sold more than 10 paintings and the sales are still mounting. This is a great accomplishment given the current economy and proves the skills and talents developed by SLC students are marketable.

Notable participants include Aaron Vanier, Cheryl Ellenberger, Heidi Cornel, Cindy Arthurs, Brittany Demeule, Bobbi King and Jesse McMahon, and many others.

Many positive comments about the calibre of the work from participants was recorded and noted in the local press.
